Has anyone here dialed in a solar power setup for extended camping trips or backcountry basecamps?
I’ve been researching ways to keep phones, GPS devices, radios, and even a small cooler powered without relying on a gas generator. There are so many options now — from compact solar panels that strap to your pack, to full fold-out rigs and battery banks.
Some gear I’m considering:
- Jackery Explorer 300 + SolarSaga 100W panel
- BioLite SolarPanel 10+ for lightweight needs
- Anker 757 PowerHouse (bit heavy, but a beast)
My goal is to keep it portable, but powerful enough to run essentials for 2–3 days.
Questions for the group:
- What’s your current solar setup for off-grid trips?
- Which panels or power banks have actually held up in the wild?
- Any advice for charging multiple devices efficiently?
If you’ve already gone down this rabbit hole, I’d love to hear what worked (or didn’t). Let’s build a solid guide for anyone thinking about solar in the woods.
