I’ve been trying something new on my outdoor adventures lately – keeping a nature journal! It’s been such a rewarding way to connect with the environment and capture the little details that often get overlooked during hikes or camping trips.
What I Include in My Journal:
- Sketches: I’ve been drawing quick sketches of plants, wildlife, and landscapes I come across. (No artistic talent required, I promise!)
- Notes on Wildlife: I jot down any animals I see, along with their behavior and location. It’s amazing how much you can notice when you’re actively observing.
- Plant Descriptions: I try to identify plants and trees, writing down their features and looking them up later if I’m unsure.
- Weather and Scenery: I also note the weather, time of day, and how the scenery changes with the light or conditions.
- Reflections: Sometimes I write about how I’m feeling in the moment or what the trip has taught me about nature.
Why It’s Worth Trying:
Keeping a nature journal has helped me slow down and really appreciate my surroundings. It’s like taking a mental photograph, but with more depth and personal connection. Plus, it’s great to look back on and relive those outdoor memories.
Do you keep a Journal, or do you have an app you use?
