Hey all,
I’ve been getting into night sky photography during my camping trips, and I’m hooked! There’s something about capturing the stars, moon, and even the Milky Way that just adds a magical element to being outdoors. However, I’m still learning and could use some tips from anyone else who’s into this.
Here’s what I’m working with:
- I have a DSLR camera with a wide-angle lens (18-55mm).
- I use a sturdy tripod and a remote shutter to avoid shaking the camera.
- I’m experimenting with long exposures, but I’m not always getting the clear shots I’m hoping for.
Here are a few things I’d love advice on:
- What are the ideal camera settings for capturing clear night sky images (ISO, shutter speed, etc.)?
- How do you handle locations with a bit of light pollution? Are there any techniques or gear that help reduce its effect?
- Any suggestions for cool night sky subjects to focus on besides the stars (e.g., satellites, planets, etc.)?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s into night photography or has any experience shooting the stars! I’m hoping to improve before my next big trip, and any tips would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Emily
