I recently completed a fun DIY project that I wanted to share with you all – building a waterproof Bluetooth speaker! The whole build was based around the Harbor Freight 2800 Apache Case, which is durable, waterproof, and the perfect size for this project. I used the following components, and I’ve included the links for anyone interested in trying this out.
Here’s what I used:
Build Process:
Prepping the Case: I used the Harbor Freight 2800 Apache Case as the foundation. It’s waterproof and rugged, which makes it perfect for outdoor use.
Speaker Installation: I cut holes into the case to mount the Speakers. They fit snugly and, combined with the silicone sealant, remain waterproof.
Power Setup: I wired up the Power Jack and 12v Socket to a Battery, which provides plenty of power for the amp and speakers. Everything is connected using Wire Connectors and Electrical Wire.
Soundproofing: I lined the inside of the case with Sound Mat to reduce vibration and improve the sound quality.
Finishing Touches: The Power Pigtail makes it easy to charge the battery without opening the case. I also added some Velcro and a Cable Organizer to keep everything tidy inside. The Power Button is mounted on the outside for easy access.
Securing Everything: After assembling the components, I used some Glue to reinforce connections and secure everything in place.
How it Performs:
I tested it in different environments, and the sound quality is great! The waterproof aspect works perfectly, and the battery life is solid for long days outdoors.
Bonus The amp I chose is linkable. I can have both speakers playing at the same time to create true left/right stereo sound.
Let me know if you’re thinking about trying a build like this, or if you have any questions! Would love to hear your feedback or see similar projects from you all.
Happy building,
Trey
