Howdy! I am new here too, not sure how many people frequent this site, but I remain hopeful, lol. The homesteading sounds awesome, I will be planting fruit trees on the property if I wind up buying this latest lake home in ‘T or C’ (Truth or Consequences, NM). Several deals have already fallen through because the real estate market is crazy right now! Plus many homes in ‘T or C’ were built around 1940 or so, and they have issues or problems to address. Meh, we’ll see what happens, nothing is written in stone, lol… 😉
Back in my “trucking daze” I used to run through the Smokies on my way to the ‘Tar Heel!’ Had a regular dedicated run from CA to NC at the time, hauling electronics east, cabinetry & windows & doors back to the west. NC was the leader in producing quality cabinetry, windows & doors at the time… so many hardwoods in that state, and some skilled workers too, lol. I’d walk through the factories or warehouses to sign paperwork, and I’d often look at the finished products and admire them, lol. Some of the windows were really fancy too, worth some serious money! 😬
Well, I’m off to get cleaned up and go buy some burritos from ‘Mi Mexico Viejo’ (My Old Mexico), a burrito shack down by the historic district here in Silver City, NM. Some little old ladies make the best burritos, using Hatch Chiles too, lol. Best goldurned chile peppers in the world, as far as I’m concerned. When I used to run the ‘Southern Route’ from San Diego to Forrest City, AR, I’d stop in Deming, NM, to buy hot peppers for my batches of burrito mix at home on the beach! Also for grilling on the BBQ! The peppers here in SW New Mexico are excellent for “foodies!” 😀
